Cypress Grove

These Monterey cypress grow in a row along a road near Manchester, CA. Monterey cypress are native to the Monterey area but early settlers planted them widely on the Mendocino coast as windbreaks and privacy screens. Often the lines of cypress are still standing long after the houses they were meant to protect have disappeared. I took the photo one winter evening when the fog was down at ground level.
