This is a female Anna’s Hummingbird feeding its chick. I found the nest after hearing the hummingbird chirping near a trail through the pygmy forest near Mendocino, CA. It was about twelve feet up in a cypress tree. I set up a blind of cloth and netting in another tree and photographed from there. The mother would land at the nest, thrust her bill down the chick’s throat and bob her head up and down when she fed it.
