This is a small wave, about three or four feet high, that was lit from behind by a beam of sunlight shining through a sea tunnel on the Mendocino coast of northern California. Standing at the edge of the water, I used a telephoto lens and a shutter speed of 1/1250 of a second in taking the picture.
