This is a little island just west of the Russian Gulch bridge near Mendocino, CA, that I’ve always liked it for its shape and for the trees that grow on it. On this winter morning I had arrived at dawn and climbed a small tree to get a clear view above the vegetation, then I took the photograph shortly after sunrise when a big rain shower was approaching from over the ocean.
