I had come to the Mendocino Headlands, near Mendocino, CA, early one winter morning to watch the setting full moon. I set up my tripod on a cliff edge and took this photo as the first colors of sunrise were tinting the clouds over the ocean. Big waves were sweeping far up onto the beach then flowing back down in frothy rivulets.
